Class # 6 TIme

Homework #5

Time is money 時は金なり
I can do buy something if I pay for what I want. But there are lots of things that I can't get by just paying for as well. That is time. We all have the same length of time and the value of time is different. We can spend time for whatever we want to. So that means there is nothing valuable things other than time.
Even if I have much money and high status in society, I should consider how precious time is. Time is equal for all people. I shouldn't waste time.

A stitch in time saves nine. 転ばぬ先のつえ

That means if I have some important things, I'm supposed to prepare for them. Then I probably make it to success. If you don't want to fail, be get ready. Actually I'm not the kind of parson. I do many struggles before something start.

There is no time like the present 思い立ったが吉日

One man asked for an old man teaching something. But at that time, he said "I will start after another year starts" and the old man said back "why don't you start right now!?" That means if you really want to do something, you don't have enough time to think about it. Just do it. Don't be scared.

I like this words. I'm always trying to get start if I have something to want to do. But I shouldn't be in a hurry too much. If so, I would be in trouble....

Let's meet at 4. If I'm not there by 5, leave without me at 6, and I'll be there at 7.

Is this one of proverbs? I tried to figure out what it means, but it was hard for me to get it, of course I understand the actual meaning though. But if that situation happens for me, (I'm the person waiting for my friends or boyfriend) I'm sure that I will get back home after I wait for him or her for an hour with upset.

This kind of homework is really tough for me. I'm still struggle with this homework.... because I've never thought of Time seriously that much.

Actually, I also had a difficult time thinking about the meanings of the time proverbs! I had heard of a few of them before but had not thought about what they meant.

I don't have a chance to think about proverves, so this homework was a little hard. I thought "time is equal for all people" was a good example.

The purpose of giving this homework is to make you think about what you believe in and why you believe it. The first step in Cross Culture Communication is to know yourself! Good work.
